As a general guide: small bedrooms (up to 20m2) suit a 2.5kW unit, living areas (20–40m2) need 5–7kW, and open-plan spaces (40m2+) require 7kW or ducted zoning. Ceiling height, insulation, window orientation and local climate all affect sizing. We measure and calculate during your free in-home assessment to ensure the right fit.
Yes. Reverse-cycle air conditioners draw AC power from your switchboard, so if your solar system is generating, the AC runs on solar first. A 6.6kW solar system can comfortably offset the running costs of a split system during daylight hours. Pair with a battery to extend solar-powered cooling into the evening.
A single split system (MG Air One) is typically installed in 3–4 hours. Multi-head systems (MG Air Multi) take 1–2 days depending on the number of indoor units. Ducted systems (MG Air Zone) require 2–3 days including ductwork, zoning and commissioning.
The Victorian Energy Upgrades program provides rebates of up to $800 for installing energy-efficient heating and cooling systems. The rebate is applied at the point of sale, so you see the discount on your invoice — no paperwork or claiming required on your end.
