WA Residential Battery Scheme
$1,300 (Synergy / SWIS) or $3,800 (Horizon Power) for 5+ kWh batteries installed after 1 July 2025. VPP participation is required. ~100,000 rebates planned, expected to run until 2027 or until the funding pool is exhausted.
Official source →Cheaper Home Batteries Program
~30% off a 5–50 kWh battery via STC discount at point of sale. Stacks with the WA scheme — combined ~$5,000+ off a typical 10 kWh battery. Tiered STC factor steps down 1 May each year.
Official source →Synergy DEBS & Horizon Buyback
Distributed Energy Buyback Scheme pays a higher time-of-export rate during late afternoon / evening peak — designed to reward batteries that discharge into the grid when demand is highest.
Official source →Rebate amounts and eligibility criteria are subject to change. Verify current terms with your state energy authority and cleanenergyregulator.gov.au. STC values fluctuate with market conditions.

What's new in
WA energy.
WA Residential Battery Scheme open
$1,300 for Synergy customers, $3,800 for Horizon Power customers. VPP enrolment required. Funding pool capped — book early to lock in your allocation.
New technical requirements (1 May 2026)
Updated WA technical rules for batteries installed from 1 May 2026 — VPP signalling, export limits and inverter compliance. We handle approvals end-to-end.
CHBP tiered STC factor (1 May 2026)
Cheaper Home Batteries Program steps down its STC factor each 1 May. Locking in the install date matters — every kWh of battery is worth slightly less the longer you wait.
Questions WA homeowners
ask us most.
Can I claim the WA Battery Scheme and the Federal CHBP at the same time?
Yes — they stack. The WA Residential Battery Scheme gives $1,300 (Synergy) or $3,800 (Horizon) and the Federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program adds ~30% off via STCs. Combined, that's ~$5,000+ off a typical 10 kWh battery. VPP enrolment is mandatory for the WA rebate.
Do I have to join a VPP to get the WA rebate?
Yes. The WA Residential Battery Scheme requires participation in an approved Virtual Power Plant for at least the first year. Synergy and selected aggregators run VPPs that cycle a portion of your battery during grid-peak events — you keep your reserve capacity and earn credits for discharges.
What's the Synergy DEBS feed-in tariff worth?
DEBS pays a higher rate for electricity exported in the late afternoon / evening peak window, and a lower rate during the day. With a battery, you charge during the day and export during peak — which dramatically improves payback compared to the old flat feed-in tariff.
Are you on the SWIS or do you also service Horizon Power areas?
Both. We service the entire SWIS (Synergy / Western Power) — Perth metro, South West, Goldfields fringe — and Horizon Power regional towns including Geraldton, Carnarvon, Karratha, Port Hedland, Broome and Esperance. Horizon customers qualify for the higher $3,800 battery rebate.
Do you do off-grid systems for remote WA?
Yes — for commercial and industrial sites primarily (mines, camps, pastoral stations). We design hybrid solar + battery + diesel systems that displace 70–90% of diesel runtime. Get in touch via the contact form with your site location and current diesel use.
