Think of the cell as the engine room: it is the part that actually stores and releases your solar energy, so it determines how safe, how long-lasting and how efficient your battery really is, regardless of the badge on the cabinet. Two cabinets from different brands can perform very differently depending on whose cells are inside. That is why, when we quote a battery for your home, we look past the brand name to the chemistry and, where it is disclosed, the cell maker behind it — so your decision is based on what does the work, not just the label.

CATL's LFP cells are well regarded for safety and longevity, which is why they are a common choice for home batteries in Australia. CATL specialises in lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry, which has a much higher thermal-runaway onset temperature than NMC and releases far less heat if a fault occurs — a meaningful advantage when a battery is mounted on the wall of a family home. CATL's cells pass nail-penetration, overcharge and thermal-runaway tests, and its energy-storage cells are rated well beyond 10,000 cycles, so they are built to be charged and discharged daily for many years. Its flagship TENER storage system is engineered for over 15,000 cycles with zero capacity degradation across the first five years. In everyday terms, LFP chemistry is designed to hold up to daily solar cycling and Australian conditions while keeping fire risk low — though real-world life still depends on how the full system is installed and used.

Knowing whether your battery uses CATL cells is not always obvious from the brochure, because cell supply can vary by model and production batch — so the honest answer is that we confirm it for your specific system rather than assume. Many battery brands buy cells from more than one supplier and do not always print the cell maker on the cabinet, which is why the badge on the box does not reliably tell you what is inside. If a manufacturer does not publish that detail, we will say so plainly rather than guess.
