Sometimes the honest answer is ‘wait’ — or ‘buy smaller’.
If your bill, your solar export and your usage don’t yet add up to a battery that earns its keep, we’ll show you that — on your actual bill, not a brochure average — and tell you to wait or buy smaller. We’d rather lose the sale than sell you a battery that sits half-empty. Whether a battery pays off depends entirely on your usage, tariff and site, so that’s exactly what we assess first — free, no obligation.
Bigger battery, smaller rebate per kWh — we’ll say so
The federal battery discount pays full-rate certificates on the first 14kWh of usable capacity, then tapers on everything above it — so a big 25kWh bank often earns a thinner rebate per kWh and can sit half-empty on an ordinary day. We size to your real evening usage, not the biggest invoice. If your priority is whole-home backup rather than bill savings, we’ll tell you where a larger bank is genuinely worth the premium — and where it isn’t.
CHBP certificate value tapers above 14kWh usable and steps down over time; indicative only — we confirm current rules for your system at quote.Rebate maths on your address, not a headline number
The federal battery discount is delivered as tradeable certificates whose value floats with the market and steps down on a set schedule, so any flat dollar figure is a guess. We check the current rules — and which state incentives genuinely stack — for your exact postcode, and put what you’re actually likely to receive in writing at assessment time. No ‘up to $X’ theatre.
Certificate value and eligibility change over time and by location; nothing here is a promise of a specific amount. An honest ‘hours on essentials’ figure, not a slogan
‘Backup ready’ means nothing without a number. We map your real essential load — fridge, wifi, a few lights, phone and medical chargers — against usable kWh and give you an honest ‘about this many hours on essentials’ estimate for your home, then size from there.
Runtime is indicative and varies with your actual usage, battery charge and available solar; we estimate it for your address, we don’t promise a fixed figure.Sized for the all-electric home you’re heading toward
Planning an EV, induction cooktop or heat-pump hot water down the track? We size the battery and switchboard for those loads now, so tonight’s stored solar can charge the car and run the house later — and you’re not paying an electrician twice to redo the board. Future-proofing as a concrete sizing decision, not a slogan.
The quote at your door vs the quote you can check.
Not a brand comparison — a behaviour comparison. Every row is something you can verify before signing anything, with us or with anyone else.
| What to check | Typical pressure sale | Mission Green |
|---|---|---|
| Battery brand & model named before you sign | “A premium battery” | Exact make, model and datasheet |
| Rebate maths shown line by line | Bundled into a “today-only price” | Each incentive itemised, with its source |
| Payback shown as a range, not a promise | “Pays for itself in 3 years” | An honest range from your bill and tariff |
| Told when a battery doesn’t stack up | Never | Yes — we’ll tell you to wait or buy smaller |
| Cooling-off period respected | “Price expires tonight” | Take the quote and sleep on it |
| NETCC Approved Seller | Ask them | Yes — look us up |

Your battery works
around the clock.
A typical 24-hour cycle showing how your battery charges from solar, exports surplus energy and powers your home through the evening and overnight.
Battery packages
for every home.
Battery sizing falls into three bands. Around 5-7kWh covers evening essentials for a small household, 10-13.5kWh is the sweet spot for most Australian homes, and 20kWh+ adds EV charging and cover through extended outages.
5-7kWh
Cover evening usage for a small household. Store enough solar to power lights, fridge and essentials through the night. Basic backup capability.
10-13.5kWh
The sweet spot for most Australian homes. Full evening coverage, meaningful backup protection and strong VPP earning potential.
20kWh+
Maximum energy independence. Cover overnight usage, charge your EV and maintain full backup during extended outages. Near off-grid capability.
Complete energy
independence.
For properties beyond the grid or those seeking total self-sufficiency, MG designs fully off-grid solar and battery systems engineered for reliability.
Remote Properties
Farms, rural retreats and regional properties where grid connection costs $50,000+ or supply is unreliable. Off-grid solar + battery eliminates grid dependence entirely.
Grid-Optional
Stay connected but operate independently 95%+ of the time. Use the grid as emergency backup only. Ideal for suburban homes seeking maximum resilience.
Off-Grid Business
Mining camps, eco-resorts, agricultural operations and construction sites. Scalable containerised solar + battery systems replace expensive diesel generation.
What's included in an off-grid system?
Every MG off-grid design includes oversized solar arrays (to account for cloudy days), large-capacity battery banks (typically 30–60kWh+), hybrid inverters with generator input, and a backup diesel or gas generator for extended low-solar periods.
Remote monitoring and automated generator start/stop ensures your system runs reliably without manual intervention — even in the most remote locations.
Design My Off-Grid System →kWh Battery
Large capacity banks sized for multi-day autonomy even without solar generation.
Self-Powered
Zero grid reliance. Your property generates and stores all the energy it needs.
Backup that beats a generator — sized to real hours.
A generator runs until the fuel does. A battery, paired with solar and sized right, keeps refilling. Here’s how we scope resilience honestly — including the day the honest answer is ‘this isn’t the right fix’.
A generator runs until the fuel does
A generator empties. A UPS dies in minutes. Paired with solar and sized right, your battery tops itself back up on sunny mornings — so a one-night outage and a multi-day one can start to feel the same. How far it stretches depends on your roof, the weather and what you’re running, which is exactly why we design the solar and the storage together.
Solar recharge during an outage varies with sunlight, system size and load; not a guarantee of indefinite backup. We agree the exact circuits before install
Most batteries don’t power your whole home in an outage by default — and even when they do, they protect chosen circuits, not the entire house at once. Before install we sit down and agree exactly what stays on: the fridge, the modem, key lights, essential devices. No vague ‘blackout protection’ you only get to test the hard way.
A home battery is a convenience backup, not a certified life-support supply — if a device is life-critical we’ll say so plainly and help you plan a dedicated, independent backup for it.Storm-Watch charging that anticipates the blackout
Some batteries we install — like Tesla with Storm Watch, plus similar features on other brands — track official severe-weather alerts and automatically charge to full before a forecast event, so you enter the outage with maximum reserve. It’s resilience that anticipates the blackout instead of reacting to it.
Availability depends on the brand and model you choose; we’ll tell you which systems offer it — it isn’t standard on every battery.Sometimes a battery isn’t the answer
For a remote property facing days-long outages and heavy loads, the honest answer might be an off-grid design with generator input — not a single home battery. We’d rather scope the right resilience solution, or point you to someone who can, than sell you a backup that won’t hold up the day you actually need it.
A powered appliance on your wall — held to a named standard.
Your battery is bolted to your house for a decade. Here’s the chemistry, the standard and the inspection homework — checkable claims, not ‘trust us’.
Built to AS/NZS 5139 — and we show our homework
Australia’s regulator inspects a risk-targeted sample of new battery installs, and its latest report flagged the majority as sub-standard on at least one point — most often paperwork or signage, a much smaller share genuinely unsafe. We install to the AS/NZS 5139 safety standard and will walk you through the exact placement, separation and signage checklist we work to. Ask to see it.

Almost every battery we fit is LFP (lithium iron phosphate) — far more resistant to thermal runaway than the NMC/NCA cells behind most home lithium fires (think e-bikes and e-scooters, not home batteries). Australia has seen only a handful of confirmed home-battery fires against 250,000+ installed systems. No battery is risk-free — which is why we also install to the Australian standard — but if lithium safety is what worries you, LFP is the honest reason to worry a lot less.
FRNSW / ACCC data. LFP is more thermal-runaway-resistant than the NMC/NCA chemistry common in e-mobility devices; some premium rows (e.g. certain Tesla/LG) are NMC.Wired to the standard — AS/NZS 5139
Home-battery installs are governed by a specific Australian safety standard, AS/NZS 5139:2019 — where the unit goes, clearances, ventilation and warning signage. Our SAA-accredited installers wire to it on every job. It’s a named standard you can look up, not a promise you have to take on faith.
It governs how the battery is installed, not the cell chemistry — that’s the LFP story next door.A 10-year warranty is only as good as the company left to honour it
An estimated 600,000 Australian solar systems are now ‘orphaned’ — roughly 1 in 6-7 solar homes, where the original installer has stopped trading. The maker’s product warranty usually survives that — but only if the maker still trades here — while the installer’s workmanship cover and after-sales help vanish with them. We’ll tell you which brands have a real Australian importer standing behind them, and we intend to be here when you need us.
