decides more than the wattage.

“JA Solar 475W” is not a specification. It is a bin inside a series, and the letters after it change the warranty, the glass and whether the panel is eligible for your rebate at all.

The residential DeepBlue 4.0 Pro modules are the JAM54D40 series — 54 cells, n-type TOPCon. The number that follows is simply the power bin, which is why the same panel appears on quotes as 440W, 445W, 455W or 475W. A higher bin from the same series is not a different technology; it is a higher-output selection of the same module, and it will usually cost more per panel and slightly less per watt.

What actually varies between variants is the suffix. JA Solar sells the same series in several configurations, and they do not all carry the same terms. The variant listed for the Australian market is the LB — for example JAM54D40-450-475/LB. Other suffixes exist for other markets with different glass and different warranty periods, which is why a warranty figure quoted from an overseas datasheet may not be the one you are buying.

So when a quote says “JA Solar DeepBlue 4.0 Pro”, the useful question is not the brand. It is: which exact model number, and can I see that model’s datasheet? A retailer who cannot produce it for the specific model on your quote has not read it either.
