The SA Home Battery Scheme has closed (ran 2018–2022). It's been replaced by the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program, which cuts around 30% off an eligible home battery. The state Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme (REPS) and SA virtual power plant (VPP) incentives can still apply for heat pumps and battery storage. South Australia carries one of the highest rooftop solar shares in the world, and SA Power Networks is the distribution network that manages every new connection. Because so much solar already flows into the grid at midday, new systems now connect under the network's flexible exports arrangement, which uses an internet-connected inverter so your export limit can adjust with grid conditions rather than being fixed. There is no state-set feed-in tariff here. South Australia uses market-based feed-in rates, so the amount you earn for exported energy is set by your retailer and worth comparing at quote time. Older, higher legacy feed-in rates apply only to systems connected under earlier schemes and are not available on new installs.
On incentives, the statewide SA Home Battery Scheme closed to new applications back in 2022 and has not returned, so we will not promise a state battery subsidy that no longer exists. What is current is the federal small-scale certificate discount on eligible solar, plus the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program discount on eligible batteries, both confirmed at quote. Given Adelaide's hot, dry summers and strong daytime generation, we often size systems and batteries to shift more of your own solar into evening use rather than exporting it cheaply.
