Warranty & Support

Protected for the long term.

Every Mission Green installation is backed by manufacturer warranties, MG workmanship guarantees and lifetime monitoring. Your investment is protected.

A warranty is only as good as the business behind it.

The number of years on a certificate matters less than who's still around to honour it. Here's how we think about it.

What a warranty can't do

The honest limit of a warranty — stated out loud

A warranty is a reactive promise: it pays out after something has already failed. It can't stop a fault, can't chase itself, and can't help you if the company behind it is gone. So the real question isn't the number of years on the certificate — it's the durability and accountability of whoever holds it. One Australian team designs, installs to standard, monitors your system and runs your claim, instead of a chain of subcontractors each pointing at the next.

Installer of record

The name on your paperwork still answers the phone

A 25-year panel warranty is only as good as the company that has to lodge the claim and send someone up the ladder. We're built to be here for the long term: your installation reference, CEC/SAA paperwork and claim history stay with a business structured to last, so you're not left chasing a manufacturer alone.

An operating commitment about how we run — not a guarantee against every future event.
The installer-went-bust test

An honest look at ‘orphaned’ systems

Hundreds of Australian solar companies have gone into liquidation or deregistration since 2011. An estimated ~600,000 systems are now ‘orphaned’ (roughly 1 in 6–7 solar homes), per an industry estimate by Markus Lambert reported by CHOICE, 2025. Mission Green has installed since 2022 and stands behind the workmanship on every job we manage. Worried about being orphaned? Read our guide on what happens when an installer goes bust — then ask us the awkward questions before you sign.

An external code, not just our word

Backed by the NETCC Consumer Code

Mission Green is an approved retailer under the New Energy Tech Consumer Code — the ACCC-authorised code that sets minimum standards for how solar and battery retailers treat customers, including honouring warranties, clear written contracts and a genuine complaints pathway. It's not a badge we award ourselves; it's an independent rulebook we're held to. Beyond our own guarantee and your manufacturer cover, there's a third-party standard standing behind the paperwork.

Warranty
coverage.

Four separate covers: 25 years on panel product and performance, 10 to 25 years on inverters, a minimum 10 years on every battery brand, and MG's 5-year workmanship warranty on the install itself. All of it sits on top of your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

Panels

25 Years

Full manufacturer product and performance warranty. Tier-1 panels typically retain around 84–85% of rated output near year 25 (exact figure varies by panel and brand). Covers defects, degradation beyond spec and material failures.

Inverters

10-25 Years

Standard 10-year warranty on string inverters (extendable to 15-20 years). Enphase microinverters carry 25-year warranty standard.

Batteries

10 Years

All battery brands carry minimum 10-year manufacturer warranty. Covers capacity degradation, cell failures and BMS defects.

Workmanship

5 Year MG Guarantee

Every installation includes MG's 5-year workmanship warranty covering roof penetrations, electrical connections, mounting systems and all labour-related aspects. MG workmanship cover is extendable up to 20 years — just enquire with our team.

Your Statutory Rights: These warranties are provided in addition to any statutory guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law (Competition and Consumer Act 2010, Schedule 2). Nothing in this warranty excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, condition, warranty, right or remedy which cannot by law be excluded, including consumer guarantees under sections 54-60 of the ACL regarding acceptable quality, fitness for purpose, and compliance with description. If goods or services fail to meet a consumer guarantee, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement, refund, or compensation for reasonably foreseeable loss.

‘25 years’ is really three different promises.

An honest broker hands you the fine print first — here's what the headline number is actually hiding.

Fine print first

Read the warranty before you pay a deposit

Most homeowners only see the fine print once the panels are on the roof and the deposit is spent. We do it the other way around: ask us and we'll send the full written workmanship terms plus the manufacturer warranty certificates for your exact panel, inverter and battery models — the real document, the real exclusions, the real claim path — before you commit. An honest broker has nothing to hide in the fine print, so we hand you the fine print first.

Three layers of protection

Product vs workmanship vs performance

Product — the maker replaces a panel, inverter or battery that fails. Workmanship — we fix anything caused by how it was installed: mounting, wiring, sealing, isolators, roof penetrations. Performance — the panel maker specifies a minimum output years in (typically around 84–85% near year 25, varies by panel). A cheap panel can carry a 25-year performance line but only a 12-year product warranty — the one that actually pays for a replacement. We spell out all three, per component, so you compare like for like.

Most people are surprised a ‘product’ warranty won't cover a leaking roof penetration — that's workmanship, the layer we carry ourselves.
The battery fine print nobody reads

‘10 years’ usually means ‘whichever comes first’

Most battery warranties are capped by 10 years OR a total energy throughput (in MWh or full cycles) OR a minimum retained capacity (often around 70%) — whichever you hit first. Heavy users, especially EV households, can quietly reach the throughput ceiling years before the calendar runs out, and a lot of sellers never mention it. We read the exact terms for your chosen battery and tell you, in plain English, which limit you're realistically likely to hit first for your usage.

A typical warranty structure — exact throughput and retained-capacity figures vary by brand.

What's included
with every install.

Every install includes monitoring that alerts our team when your system stops performing as expected, a complimentary annual health check for the first two years, and one phone number for all three warranties — panels, inverter or battery, and workmanship — with us running the claim end to end.

Monitoring That Watches For You

The worst fault is the one you never notice — a failing string, a dead inverter or a battery that won't charge can go unseen for months. Our monitoring alerts our team when your system stops performing as expected, often before you'd spot it yourself, so a claim can start while the problem is still small. See our guides on systems that stopped exporting, a battery that won't charge or a red inverter light.

Annual Health Check

Complimentary annual system health check for the first 2 years. Performance review, visual inspection and optimisation recommendations.

Three Warranties, One Phone Number

A modern system carries at least three separate warranties — panels, inverter/battery, and the install itself — each with its own portal and time limits. When something fails, you make one call to us: we work out whose warranty it is and run the claim end to end — diagnosis, lodgement, removal, replacement and re-testing — so you're never refereeing between brands or shipping a faulty panel back-to-base yourself. Where a manufacturer's own terms cap labour or freight, we tell you up front rather than at the moment it breaks.

How warranty claims
work.

You report the issue by phone, email or through your monitoring app, and our technical team reviews your system data remotely — many faults are resolved without a site visit. If a component has failed, we lodge the manufacturer claim and a SAA-accredited technician fits and tests the replacement.

What's not covered.

Transparency is core to our values. Here's what falls outside standard warranty coverage.

Storm & Flood Damage

Damage caused by extreme weather events including storms, floods, hail, lightning strikes or cyclones. These are typically covered by your home insurance.

Unauthorised Modifications

Any modifications, repairs or alterations performed by non-SAA accredited technicians or without Mission Green's written approval.

Normal Degradation Within Spec

Gradual performance reduction that remains within the manufacturer's published degradation curve (e.g. panels producing above 84.8% at year 25).

Cosmetic Wear

Surface scratches, minor discolouration or cosmetic blemishes that do not affect system performance or energy output.

Non-SAA Installation

Systems not installed by SAA-accredited installers, or installations that do not comply with Australian Standards (AS/NZS 5033).

Grid & Utility Faults

Issues caused by grid voltage fluctuations, utility outages, power surges from the network or changes to feed-in tariff regulations.
