Why Compass's Free.
Why Compass is free — and how it stays honest. Built by Mission Green, a licensed installer, so the advice is straight with you about the money.
In plain English: Most “free” advice online is paid for by whoever’s selling. Compass is different on purpose — it’s built by people who actually do the work, and it’s straight with you about the money. Honest advice. Always current. On your side.
1Honest advice, on your side
Most “free” advice online is paid for by whoever’s selling. Compass is different on purpose: it’s built by people who actually do the work, and it’s straight with you about the money.
Honest advice. Always current. On your side.
2What Compass promises
The advice, in writing.
- Real, dated rebates only. Never a closed scheme, never an invented number — every figure is stamped to its source and the date it was checked.
- The honest move, even when it’s no. It’ll tell you to wait, buy smaller, or stay put when that’s the right call for your home.
- When it’s cheaper elsewhere, it says so. If the better option isn’t Mission Green — including the free government bill comparison — Compass points you there.
- Kept current. Australia’s rebates change fast (STC rates step down every six months). Compass only ever quotes what’s live today.
3How Compass is free
The money, in plain sight.
- Built by Mission Green, a licensed, CEC/SAA-accredited installer — so the advice is backed by people who fit these systems for a living.
- We earn only when you install with us. Not when you click. Not from ads. And never by selling your details to three strangers who’ll cold-call you.
- So here’s the full math anyway — including the times solar or a battery doesn’t pay back yet. If the numbers say wait, Compass says wait.
- Booking a free assessment is always free and always optional. Compass’s job is the honest answer first; the quote only if you want it.
4How you can check we mean it
Talk is cheap, so Compass keeps score — in public. Every reply is audited after the fact by an independent “Red Pencil” critic that works only for you, and we publish what it finds: how often the honest answer was “don’t buy”, and any time a reply nudged toward Mission Green. It also logs every prediction to grade against the real meter as installs land — misses and all.
See Compass’s honesty record → — the live walk-away rate, on the record. The Reality Ledger (graded predictions vs real bills) follows.
5The honest fine print
Compass is Australia’s honest energy advisor, built by Mission Green Pty Ltd (ABN 17 659 134 577) — a licensed installer (CEC/SAA accredited). Compass gives general energy guidance only; this is not legal, financial or tax advice.
Compass can make mistakes — confirm important figures before you act. Rebate amounts, eligibility, payback periods and savings estimates are indicative only and change over time. Always confirm the figures with the relevant authority, retailer or a qualified adviser before you buy.
