Proven at Australian scale
Sungrow is one of the highest-volume storage brands in Australia with years of field data, an established service channel and inverter-matched pairings that installers know well. If you want the option with the fewest unknowns, this is it.
Cost per usable kilowatt-hour
GreenVolt is priced well below the established brands. Because the federal rebate still pays 60% up to 28 kWh usable, a ten-module system lands close to the most rebate-efficient size available.
Ecosystem maturity
Monitoring, VPP integrations, firmware and installer familiarity are all further along. On a newer brand these are the things that quietly cost you time later.
The portable modules
Removable G4 modules run a mower, scooter, e-bike and golf buggy from the same battery platform. Sungrow does not offer anything comparable. We wrote about how that actually works.

Green ESS is newer, cheaper per usable kilowatt-hour, and offers portable modules that run garden and mobility equipment. On reliability evidence Sungrow is ahead simply because the evidence exists; on price GreenVolt is ahead.
Green ESS GreenVolt is materially cheaper per usable kilowatt-hour. Part of that is the tiered federal rebate, part is a shorter supply channel, and part is a newer brand buying market share. Pricing is quoted per site after a site assessment.
Battery and inverter pairings must be on the manufacturer's approved compatibility list, and mixing brands is usually not supported. If you already run a Sungrow inverter, staying within that ecosystem is normally the simpler and better-warranted path. Ask us to check your specific model.
So which battery is right for you?
We install both. Here is how it usually resolves.
- Want the fewest unknowns? Sungrow. The install base and service network are the product as much as the hardware is.
- Budget is the binding constraint? GreenVolt gives materially more usable storage for the money, and the tiered rebate does much of the work between 14 and 28 kWh usable.
- Already have a Sungrow inverter? Staying in-family is usually the simpler install and the cleaner warranty conversation.
- Would actually use the yard equipment? That is the one thing Sungrow cannot match. If you would not use it, it should not sway the decision.
