What this is.
Rebate rules in Australia change often, quietly, and unevenly across eight jurisdictions. Most published summaries are out of date and almost none say when they were last checked or where the figure came from. That is the gap this page exists to close.
Every entry below carries three things: the amount, the conditions that actually determine whether you get it, and a direct link to the government page it was taken from. If our reading and the source disagree, the source wins — tell us and we will correct it in public.

This page is a reference. Our rebates guide is the practical version — what stacks, what the timing traps are, and how the paperwork actually runs.

Deadlines and step-downs we are currently tracking, earliest first. A date here is the date the rule changes, not the date we published it.

Small-scale Technology Certificates drop one deeming year on 1 Jan — roughly 7–8% less off a new solar system.
Can it wait? A modest annual change — worth timing if you are ready now, but a good system still stacks up after.
That is the only scheme-wide dated change we are currently tracking. Other dates — income-cap changes, suspended schemes, programs opening later in 2026 — are noted inside the individual entries below rather than repeated here.
Victoria

Solar Victoria PV rebate · VIC State
Up to $1,400
Paid as 50% of the system cost up to a $1,400 maximum and calculated after STCs, so a cheaper system returns less than $1,400. A matching interest-free loan up to $1,400 over 4 years is offered at application. Income cap $150,000 (dropped from $210,000 on 1 July 2026), property value under $3 million, no solar at the property in the last 10 years, and install within 120 days of approval. Separate streams pay the same $1,400 to rental providers (maximum two properties per financial year, renter agreement required) and to registered community housing organisations (per tenancy).

Solar Victoria Solar for Apartments · VIC State
Up to $2,800 per apartment
Up to $2,800 per apartment and up to $140,000 per property for solar on apartment buildings, strata townhouses and units under an Owners Corporation with a shared common-property rooftop. Claimed by the Owners Corporation and applied by the retailer as an invoice discount. Open until 30 June 2027 or until rebates are exhausted. Jointly funded by the Victorian and Commonwealth governments.

Up to $1,400 for locally made heat pump or solar hot water, up to $1,000 for other eligible products, paid as 50% of the purchase price after STCs and VEECs. An additional 27,000 rebates for 2026-27. Income cap $150,000, property under $3 million, the system being replaced at least 3 years old, and install within 120 days.

For joining a Virtual Power Plant with an eligible battery over 2 and up to 50 kWh (paid on usable capacity up to 28 kWh). NSW publishes no dollar figure — the amount varies by VPP provider and contract, so compare offers before you commit. Stacks with the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program. The standalone NSW battery installation discount was suspended from 1 July 2025.

Loan up to $15,000
Zero-interest loan up to $15,000 over up to 10 years for property owners with combined household income up to $210,000, covering rooftop solar, batteries, insulation, heat pump and solar hot water, reverse-cycle air conditioning, switchboard upgrades, induction cooktops and EV chargers. Separate discounts of up to $4,000 open later in 2026 for households on income up to $80,000 or an eligible concession card, with a $200 minimum contribution — not open yet.

Supercharged Solar for Renters · QLD State
Up to $3,500
Rebate paid to the landlord, not the renter, to install solar on a tenanted rental property. Open since 12 December 2025. Conditional approval must be granted before installation begins — installing first forfeits the rebate. The property must be a Class 1a building (house, duplex or townhouse) or a secondary dwelling such as a granny flat, individually metered, rented for $1,000 or less per week, and currently rented under a lease with at least eight months remaining at final application. Apartments (Class 2) are not eligible. The property must be owned by an individual; trusts, self-managed super funds and companies are excluded. Tenant consent is required, plus body corporate consent where applicable. Separate applications are allowed for different addresses.

Automatic point-of-sale discount on solar PV, claimed by your installer. Value follows your postcode zone, system size and the market certificate price, which the Clean Energy Regulator reports usually sells for $33-$38 (capped at $40 in the clearing house). Brisbane is zone 3, so a 6.6kW system earns 45 certificates in 2026 and a 10kW system about 69. The discount shrinks each year as the deeming period falls — 5 years for 2026 installs, 4 for 2027.

6.006c regional / market SEQ
South-east Queensland has no mandated rate — retailers set their own, so compare offers on Energy Made Easy. In the regional Ergon area the regulated rate is 6.006c/kWh from 1 July 2026, down 31% from 8.660c.

Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme (REPS) · SA
Varies
Obliges SA energy retailers to deliver energy productivity activities to homes and businesses. Published activity specifications cover ceiling insulation, building sealing, secondary glazing, efficient air conditioning, water heater upgrades and showerheads, appliances and pool pumps, switching to a time-of-use tariff (TOU1), and connecting a battery (VPP1), EV charger, heat pump water heater, pool pump or air conditioner to an approved demand-response aggregator or VPP. LED lighting activities were revoked 1 January 2026. Targets for 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2030 were gazetted on 24 December 2025 and apportioned to obliged retailers by ESCOSA. Retailers choose which activities they offer and no dollar figure is published, so ask your retailer or an activity provider what is available; you do not have to be their customer. Priority-group customers may get further discounts.

South Australia's VPP (AGL-run) · SA

AGL owns and operates SA's VPP, described by the department as Australia's largest — Tesla transferred ownership to AGL in 2025. Eligible SA Housing Trust and community housing tenants get a home battery installed and maintained at no cost, plus electricity priced 26% below the Default Market Offer. It is not open to owner-occupiers.

Closed at 11:59pm on 1 September 2025 after all available funding was exhausted — ReCFIT reports the scheme supported $62 million across 7,500 loans. Approved loans had to be settled and installed by 30 November 2025. Federal STCs and the Cheaper Home Batteries Program are the active support.

3% interest with no upfront or monthly fees (a late-payment fee may apply), $2,000-$20,000 over up to 10 years for new applicants — earlier participants and anyone approved before 1 July 2026 keep a $15,000 maximum. Covers batteries, heat pumps, reverse-cycle heating and cooling, EVs and chargers, induction cooktops and insulation, with e-cargo bikes added from September 2026. Rooftop solar PV is not eligible under this scheme — solar loans run through the Home Energy Support Program for concession-card holders. Property unimproved-value caps apply, except for EVs.

$1,300 (Synergy) / $3,800 (Horizon)
Paid per kWh of usable capacity — $130/kWh for Synergy customers and $380/kWh for Horizon Power — on batteries of at least 5 kWh installed on or after 1 July 2025. The rebate caps at 10 kWh, but a larger battery is still eligible and receives the full $1,300 or $3,800. Requires joining a VPP under a two-year agreement. 100,000 rebates, expected to run to 2027 or until exhausted. Interest-free loans of $2,001-$10,000 also available (household income under $210,000).
